The Fiji Police Force has identified and reached out to individuals who allegedly threatened the Verma family after their son, Bhavik Verma, posted a viral video oflliesa Toga, a security guard involved in a recent car accident.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, confirmed yesterday that police were aware of the threats directed at the Verma family, allegedly made via calls and text messages.

Following the video's release, Mr Toga received widespread support, while the Verma family experienced a backlash.

"The report was received at Samabula Police Station," said ACPO Driu.

"Police have managed to contact and speak to those involved in making threats, and investigations are ongoing."

The video, posted over the weekend, showed Mr Toga apologetically admitting fault in the accident, unaware that he was being recorded.

Bhavik's father, Sanjay Verma, expressed concern for the family's safety after they received alarming messages and calls.

He requested increased police patrols near their residence in Suva.

Fijians at home and abroad have praised the video, calling it a "blessing in disguise" for Mr Toga, who has since received more than FJD$3300 in M-PAiSA transfers as an outpouring of support.

Despite the positive response, Mr Toga urged Fijians to avoid hostility towards the Verma family.
