Police investigate death of woman

The Fiji Police Force are investigating the discovery of a woman found dead in an abandoned house along Rewa Street in Suva yesterday.

Police spokesperson, Wame Bautolu confirmed that a team was dispatched to the site after receiving a call from a passerby who saw the body early yesterday morning.

“Around 5.30am this morning (yesterday) Police received a report of an unknown i-Taukei woman partly dressed found lying motionless inside a vacant house along Rewa Street opposite Talasiga Road,” Mr Bautolu said.

“Police are yet to identify the body; investigation is underway.”

A team from the Forensic Department spent about four hours scouting and investigating the area.

Although no identification of any sort has been made, many living along Rewa Street who flocked to the scene yesterday said this could be another drug related case.

An anonymous source said the area was well known for prostitutes and drug dealers.

While there were claims that an alleged fight broke out in the area last Friday, a nearby resident disputed the claims saying it was a silent weekend.
