Police officers under fire over alleged assault and bribe attempt
He confirmed that the implicated officers have been sent on interdiction without pay while investigations are underway.

Several police officers are under internal investigation following serious allegations of assault and corruption involving a 33-year-old businessman in Valelevu.
According to a report received by Police, the incident occurred on Monday, July 28, 2025, where it is alleged the officers assaulted and threatened the man, before demanding a large sum of money in exchange for his release.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu has directed the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to launch a full investigation into the matter.

He confirmed that the implicated officers have been sent on interdiction without pay while investigations are underway.
“These are still allegations,” Mr Tudravu said, “but they risk further eroding public trust in the work of Police — trust that is hard to rebuild once lost.”
He warned that the Force has issued sufficient guidance and warnings to officers on conduct, and anyone found breaching their oath to serve and protect will face the consequences.
Investigations continue.
