Police are awaiting post-mortem results to determine the cause of death of a man found motionless inside a vehicle parked near the Pacific Harbour Police Post yesterday.

Fiji Police Force spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed that investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are continuing.

"We will await the post-mortem results," Ms Naisoro said.

It is understood that the man was a taxi driver parked at the Arts Village taxi stand who appeared to have died in his sleep.

Fellow taxi drivers who witnessed the incident said they waited two to three hours for a forensic team to arrive from Suva before the body was removed.

Police responded to a report of an unresponsive man and found him seated in the driver's seat of the vehicle.

The area was cordoned off while forensic officers examined the scene.

The man has yet to be formally identified.
