More than 200 rolls of aluminum foil containing dried leaves and a thousand small branches believed to be marijuana were seized in Tacirua, near Suva, yesterday afternoon.

According to assistant Commissioner of Police Operation, Livai Driu, there was a joint raid conducted by Fiji Police Force personnel from the Southern Division’s Serious and Organised Crime and Intelligence Department (SOCID), Fiji Detector Dog Unit (FDDU) and Police Dog Unit.

The team raided the home of a 57-year-old man who then discovered the illegal substances ready to be sold. ACP Driu also acknowledged the community- police collaboration.

“The raid reflects the continued support shown by members of the community in working with the Fiji Police Force, in the sharing of information,” he said.

“We appreciate everyone who continue to support policing efforts in the war on drugs.”
