Police Refutes Labasa Assault Claims on Officers
Deputy DPC Cerenasiga revealed after the post came to their attention, they exhausted all avenues to verify if the incident was credible.

Police Senior Superintendent Luke Cerenasiga has refuted claims that two officers were assaulted in Labasa over the weekend.
The social media post, under the name ‘Mohammed Muveen’ claimed the two officers were allegedly punched by a group of boys at Labasa Bus Stand at the weekend.
That social media post was shared on Facebook closed forums like ‘Labasa People on Facebook’, and ‘Fijian Society and its Culture’ – which has thousands of followers, thus attracting hundreds of comments and reactions.

Post condemned
The post received condemnation, and a unified call to respect police officers on duty, but as far as the relevance and authenticity of that post is concerned, the police have not received any reports of such incident.
“It is false,” Deputy Divisional Police Commander (DPC) Cerenasiga said.
