Members of the public should expect increased snap checkpoints, search operations and a heightened security presence from today.
This comes as joint drug operations between the Fiji Police Force and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces are stepped up nationwide.
“Members of the public are advised to expect an escalation of joint drug operations between the Fiji Police Force and the RFMF,” a police statement read.

Authorities say the intensified operations are part of an ongoing agreement between RFMF Commander Major-General Jone Kalouniwai and Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu aimed at strengthening the national response to illicit drug activity.
The public has been urged to cooperate with security personnel as operations increase across urban centres, rural communities, and major transit routes.
“The escalation of the joint exercise sends a clear message to those involved in the drug trade and their associates that illegal drug activities will not be tolerated,” the statement read.
Police and the RFMF say the focus remains on dismantling drug networks and disrupting supply chains, with investigation teams deployed alongside operational units to ensure reports are processed quickly and lawfully.
"The joint operations team will be supported by an investigation team, to ensure reports are dealt with swiftly, and due processes to be followed in accordance with the law."
Officials say the coordinated surge will include snap checkpoints and targeted search operations designed to detect and deter drug trafficking activity.
While authorities say public safety remains the top priority, they acknowledge the operations will result in a heightened security presence nationwide.
Members of the public with information relevant to ongoing operations are encouraged to contact the toll-free hotline 1681.
