Four people are now in custody at the Lautoka Police Station over their alleged involvement in the carriage of the drugs.
It is alleged the drugs were packed in a carton intended for pick-up by an aviation employee destined for overseas delivery.
“The sealed silver packets were processed at the Police Forensic Lab which revealed that the 12 bars of white substances were packed with kava,” he revealed.
“The white substance was tested, and the results came out positive for cocaine on both the presumptive and confirmatory tests, weighing more than 12kg.”
“Teams from the CID Headquarters together with Lautoka CID officers are conducting the investigation,” he said.
“This seizure is a wonderful example of what collaboration can achieve and reiterates the call to work together, as Police cannot do it alone.”
The Fiji Police Force thanks members of the community for alerting them.
“The sharing of information and photos of seized substances through the media is also aimed at educating the public on what to look out for, so they are not used by criminal elements.”
