Police teams arrest bench warrant subject

Saimoni Rokotunidau, who faces five charges including the attempted murder of a Police officer at the Laqere police checkpoint was arrested at a residence in Nasinu Road this morning.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Kasiano Vusonilawe confirmed the arrest, saying Rokotunidau was the subject of a bench warrant.

“Bench warrant subject Saimoni Rokotunidau was arrested this morning by officers from the Serious Organised Crime, K9 and Valelevu CID at a residence in Nasinu Road,” ACP Vusonilawe said.

Rokotunidau faces one count each of attempted murder of a Police officer at the Laqere Police checkpoint, unlawful possession of illicit drugs, going equipped, serious assault, and refusing to have his fingerprints and photographs taken.

Officers from the Serious Organised Crime Unit, K9 Unit and Valelevu Criminal Investigations Department were involved in his arrest.
