Fiji Police urges parents and guardians to be vigilant of their children's whereabouts

The Fiji Police Force are considering further investigating the importation of 1.183 kilogrammes of methamphetamine from the United States of America through DHL Express.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, confirmed that they will be discussing this further with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP).

The case hit a dead end in the Suva Magistrates Court earlier last December after the court acquitted the accused person, Zoherb Begg, on multiple grounds of doubt that Police did not investigate.

The court specifically touched on Begg’s caution interview where he continuously testified that his cousin, Imran Khan, was the mastermind behind this case.

Police’s failure to investigate Khan created doubt in the State’s case.

The duo was initially charged together in 2022 where Khan faced a charge of possession of 4.1 grams.

The 28-day period for Prosecution to file an appeal expired yesterday.
