The Fiji Police Force will soon meet with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to discuss recommendations arising from the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report.

Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu confirmed this during a press conference this morning, saying the ODPP had requested the meeting to progress the matter.

“I can confirm that we will be meeting with the Office of the DPP. They have already alerted me, and the meeting will take place soon so we can discuss the recommendations,” he said.

The COI investigated the appointment of former Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) commissioner Barbara Malimali and concluded that her appointment was unlawful.

The inquiry implicated nine senior officials, including five lawyers, three members of the judiciary and a Cabinet member, for allegedly lying under oath and obstructing justice.

Police have been investigating allegations raised in the COI report since receiving it in June 2025.

As of October 2025, nine investigation files had been submitted to the ODPP for legal advice, with two cases still under investigation. One case was closed due to insufficient evidence.

When asked about progress on cold cases being investigated by retired detectives, Commissioner Tudravu said work was progressing.

“It is progressing well under the supervision of our senior detectives,” he said.

“When there are further developments following the last press conference, I will update the public and the media.”
