A 28-year-old Policeman, Fifita Tawake Toma, will appear at the High Court in Suva on February 6 after he was charged for one count of murder.

This ruling was made after he appeared before Magistrate Pulekari Low at the Suva Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The court heard that on January 13, in Suva, Toma punched the victim which led to his death.

Magistrate Low, after hearing the matter, said as the case was an indictable offence, it was only fitting that the case be transferred to the High Court.

Toma told the court that he has chosen a lawyer to represent him.

After adjourning the date of his first call, Magistrate Low advised Toma that he had 21 days to file an Alibi Notice.

The Alibi Notice allows him to defend himself by gathering alibi testimonies who could attest to his defence.

His bail application will also be heard at the High Court in Suva.

However, he will remain in remand. Toma is represented by Joji Cakau of the Vosarogo lawyers.
