Barely anyone showed up when the consultation about municipal council elections started at Labasa Civic Centre yesterday.

The Ministry of Local Government was called on to raise more awareness so people could turn up.

Rajendra Sheromani was disappointed at the low turnout yesterday. Originally scheduled to start at 10am, the event began late as organisers were waiting for more people.

At around 10:30am there were only six ratepayers at the meeting.

Mr Sheromani only became aware about the consultations after reading the ministry’s advertisement in the Fiji Sun Weekend.
