A Makoi taxi owner is calling the Nasinu Town Council to address the drainage problem in Vatoa Road, Nasinu.
Lingam Chetty said that when it rains heavily the drain gets blocked and the road gets flooded.
He said that council workers came many times to check the drain and went away without doing anything.

“One of the vehicles got stuck in the middle of the flooded road and the community members managed to push it out of the flood waters,” Mr Chetty said.
“It is easy for me to go through Vatoa Street but because of flooding I had to make a long turn,” Mr Chetty said.
He said that the vehicles get damaged since there is no parking space near their home so they park on Vatoa Street.
“It takes time and fuel to reach our destination and people have to travel from other routes when there is a heavy rain which leads to flooding,” Mr Chetty said.
Council chief executive officer Lute Berends, said that the council workers clean the drain once a month and the culvert is relatively small.
He did not reply to other questions sent to him.
