Residents of Tabucola Tiri in Labasa say the poor condition of a cane access road is worsening daily, with potholes making travel difficult and raising safety concerns in a flood-prone area.

Nila Wati, a resident, said the road was riddled with potholes at almost every step, making it challenging for vehicles and pedestrians.

“It is a cane access road, but everywhere you go there are potholes after potholes,” Ms Wati said.

“We have complained so many times, but nothing has been done.

“When it floods, the road condition worsens and it becomes dangerous for families, especially those with children.”

Another resident, Jay Deo, shared similar sentiments, saying the road was not only affecting daily travel but also farming activities.

“The condition of the road is very poor and needs urgent attention,” Mr Deo said.

“Farmers rely on this road, but the potholes are damaging vehicles and making access difficult.”

Residents are calling on Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) to carry out urgent repairs before conditions deteriorate further during the current wet weather.

Questions sent to the FRA regarding the condition of the road remained unanswered.
