Power supply for the rest of the Western Division is expected to be restored in the next few days.
Energy Fiji Limited’s chief executive officer, Hasmukh Patel, said: “I think by Friday or the latest by Saturday, everything in the Western Division should be fixed up.
“We have put in separate systems now so that should the fault re-appear on the same line, only the Western Division will be affected and not the Central Division.

“That is to minimise the disruption to the customers in the Central Division.
“If the weather improves tomorrow (today), we will be able to access the transmission line, find the fault, repair and get things back to normal.
“Once we get the transmission line intact, find and repair the fault then there should not be any disturbances in supply in the Western Division.”
He has urged customers to have patience and understanding as they access, repair and restore power lines after the impact of the tropical storm.
“Sometimes people have this concept that soon after the cyclone passes, we should be able to switch on power supplies immediately, just like we switch on and off lights on our walls,” he said.
“We take our time and inspect everything to ensure that we safely restore the power lines.”
Mr Patel has also advised customers to only hire registered and licensed electrical contractors to fix any electrical issues that they may have and do not attempt to fix the issue by themselves or by any unlicensed or unregistered personnel.
