Prasad Anticipates Miss Asia Global 2024

Ashlin Alveena Prasad, 17, aims to make Fiji proud at the Miss Asia Global 2024 World Finals in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in March.

The Swami Vivekananda College Year 12 student has been gearing up to be part of the pageant, a first from Fiji to grace the occasion. She said the pageant paved the way for young women to step forward in the world with pride and confidence.

“I find myself lucky to have been chosen, as this is my first time com­peting in an international beauty pageant,” Ms Prasad said.

“For the first time, someone from Fiji is taking part in the Miss Asia global pageant. I have been getting some assistance and hope more will come onboard to assist me in my journey.”

She is scheduled to arrive in Ma­laysia on February 28 and the coro­nation is set for March 9.

BACKGROUND

Ms Prasad said she was ap­proached by the pageant’s national director, Tito Stowers, after her photos appeared on the Jack’s of Fi­ji’s Little India social media pages.

She said her parents, Asesh Pras­ad and Aireen Lata, have supported her throughout her career path.

“I want to thank my parents for being the greatest support and en­couragement throughout my jour­ney. I encourage youths to focus on their dreams and ambitions and continue to work hard towards becoming the greatest version of yourselves,” Ms Prasad said.

Some of her achievements in­clude:

• A fashion model for Jack’s of Fiji since 2023;
• Part of the SVC Model United Na­tions (UN) Conference organised by International School Nadi in 2023;
• Team captain of Team SVC in the IQ active Fiji competition 2023; and
• A translator at Word of Life Christian Centre (Church), where she has educated and motivated many youths and elderly people.
