President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu has called on Fijians to embrace the true spirit of Christmas by fostering unity, compassion, and care for those in need.

Delivering his Christmas message, the President reminded the nation of the enduring promise revealed through the birth of Jesus Christ, a promise of peace, redemption, and hope.

“This blessed season calls us to reflect on God’s immeasurable grace and to recognise His guiding hand over our beloved nation,” he said.

“Christmas invites us to look beyond ourselves and to embrace the divine virtues of love, compassion, humility, and forgiveness.”

Ratu Naiqama highlighted that these principles are not only Christian values but the pillars upon which strong societies are built.

He praised Fiji’s rich cultural and faith diversity, saying it continues to strengthen national unity and identity.

Reflecting on the year, the President acknowledged progress in consolidating democratic institutions, fostering dialogue, and advancing policies that uplift families, empower communities, and broaden opportunities.

He noted improvements in economic recovery, healthcare, education, and environmental protection, attributing these achievements to the dedication of the people and God’s faithfulness.

“As we prepare to enter a new year, let the message and hope of Christmas guide our steps,” he said, urging citizens to renew their commitment to unity, respect, and service.

He called on Fijians to reach out to those in need, regardless of ethnicity or religion, and make Christmas brighter for a neighbour or family.

"I ask each and every one of us, to reach out, you don’t have to look far, to find a neighbour, a friend, a family member in need," Ratu Naiqama said.

""If we all do this, to reach out and help make a brighter Christmas holiday for a neighbor or a family in need, we will go a long way to lifting up our nation.

"And I remind you, your neighbor is anyone you meet, not just the family next door, but someone who may speak a different language, or be of a different ethnicity or religion, who is in need," Ratu Naiqama said.

He encouraged Fijians to seek God’s wisdom and work together to build a Fiji where every child grows with hope, every community thrives in peace, and diversity is embraced as a blessing.
