Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka says he is yet to receive specifics regarding the visit of a high-level Chinese minister, the Vice Foreign Minister, Ma Zhaoxu, who is expected in the country this week.

This is despite China’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, confirming in China that Mr Ma would visit Fiji and Australia.

When asked yesterday, Mr Rabuka said he had been informed about the visit but had not received an appointment for meeting with the government official.

Mr Wang, while speaking to Chinese media said the Vice Minister Ma Zhaoxu would visit Australia and Fiji this week at the invitation of the two governments.

He indicated that the visit was for the intention of political consultation between the officials of the foreign ministries of China and Australia.
