A mother of 10 is urging people to prioritise their children’s educational needs, as Year 12 and 13 students are set to resume classes from November 1.

Pam Bainivanua, 47, of Narere, Nasinu, was out in Suva with her son Emmanuel Bainivavanua, a Year 13 student of Ahmadiyya Muslim College and a shopping list of back-to-school items.

“Eight of my 10 children are still in school, so my first priority are my children and their education”, she said.

Ms Bainivavanua added that she was looking forward to schools reopening as education provides a secured future for all her children.

“I make sure that my kids were attending all their online classes and completing their home study materials,” she said.

Ms Bainivanua, who works at a departmental store, with support from her husband, who is a soldier, ensured to have enough savings to purchase all their child’s back-to-school requirements.

“We made a list of things needed for my Year 13, son and came to Suva today to ensure when he resumes school he has all his school needs.”

She also advises others parents to think of their children’s educational needs while shopping for Diwali, Christmas and New Year.

Her son, Emmanuel was excited to return to school and see his schoolmates after six months away, due to COVID-19 health crisis.

The Bainivanua family is wishing everyone a prosperous and safe Diwali.
