Northern Air aircraft, a Britten Norman Islander (BN2A), landed beyond the designated area at Gau Aerodrome on July 23, 2024.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Fiji (CAAF) has announced an investigation following a runway overun incident at Gau Aerodrome yesterday morning.
Authority chief executive officer Theresa O’Levestam confirmed that the aircraft, a Britten Norman Islander (BN2A), landed beyond the designated area.
The aircraft is owned by domestic airline Northern Air.

“Thankfully, all three passengers and the two crew members safely disembarked from the aircraft with no reported injuries,” she said.
“Emergency response procedures were activated immediately upon notification of the incident.”
Ms O’Levestam added that CAAF was collaborating closely with relevant authorities to ensure the safety and security of the scene.
“An investigation will be conducted in accordance with the Civil Aviation (Occurrence Reporting and Investigation) Regulations 2009 to determine the cause of the incident,” she said.
Further information will be provided as the investigation progresses. Northern Air cofounder andchief executive Captain Rainjesh San said while the incident was unfortunate, they would await the outcome of the CAAF investigation before releasing additional statements.
