Processing Plant Boosts Economy On Garden Island

Farmers across Taveuni were at the opening of the Road King Farm Fresh Produce Processing Facility in Nalele on Friday.
The company, which is managedand controlled by Atish Prasad, 28, is the only exporter on the island and has grown to be a ray of hope for farmers.
It offers cutting-edge facilities and a competitive price for its goods.

Since its establishment two years ago, the local entrepreneur has raised the price per kilogram of dalo from $1.50 to $4.
Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said the facility would help every one of Fiji, not only the Taveuni people.
“Through the company’s efforts, the prime products of Taveuni would be tasted fresh on the table of many people around the world,” Mr Rabuka said.

To meet farmers’ demands for organic fertiliser, the new facility includes cold storage rooms, a rest house, and a biogas system.
PM Rabuka expressed gratitude to stakeholders, the community, Australia and New Zealand, Fiji’s
bilateral partners, and Mr Prasad for turning his vision become a reality.
