The Fijian Elections Office (FEO) has confirmed that the proposed political party People First has formally submitted its application for registration.
Registrar of Political Parties, Ana Mataiciwa, said the application was lodged yesterday, Thursday 20 November 2025.
She said the FEO would now move to publish the party’s application in a newspaper and in the Gazette, as required under the Political Parties (Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosures) Act 2013. The publication will trigger the official objections period.

“During the objections period, any person may submit a written objection to the FEO regarding the party’s application for registration,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
“The FEO will assess and respond to all objections within seven days of receipt, after giving the proposed party an opportunity to respond, and will then inform both the objectors and the applicant party of its decision.”
Once this process is completed, the proposed party will be advised whether its registration has been approved or rejected, following a full compliance check under the Act.
The FEO says transparency and public participation are central to the political party registration process, ensuring every proposed party meets legal requirements and that the public has meaningful opportunity to engage.
