The future of the The Next Generation (TNG) Fiji proposed Vuda waste-to-energy project remains under review, with a Technical Review Committee (TRC) expected to meet next week to progress its assessment and recommendations.

The committee is being convened and will begin formal deliberations on Monday as part of an ongoing evaluation process before any final decision is made.

Speaking during an interview at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on Tuesday, Permanent Secretary for Environment and Climate Change Sivendra Michael said the TRC would meet multiple times to finalise its recommendations.

“Once the TRC meets a couple of times, they will finalise their recommendations for submission to the Director,” he said.

Mr Michael said the review process would determine the next steps for the project, which has attracted public and stakeholder interest.

No timeline has been given for a final decision, but the committee’s recommendations are expected to guide the outcome of the TNG project.
