Province Of Cakaudrove To Host Its Paramount Chief

After more than 50 years, the Cakaudrove Province will host another traditional celebratory ceremony for the paramount chief within the province.

Tomorrow, about 2000 people from 14 districts within the province are expected to converge at Somosomo Village in Taveuni to welcome and celebrate Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu’s achievement as Speaker of Parliament.

Ratu Naiqama is the paramount chief of Cakaudrove and the Tovata confederacy. The ceremony, known as the Vakasenuqanuqa, is the highest form of accolade accorded to a person of stature in the traditional society.
