The Public Service Commission (PSC) will advertise the permanent secretary position for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management in December.

PSC chairperson Luke Rokovada confirmed that the position, left vacant following the passing of Isoa Talemaibua in September, would be advertised by year’s end.

“There is someone acting there, the deputy secretary is acting there. We are likely to be advertising that position in December,” Mr Rokovada said.

Deputy secretary Mitieli Cama has been acting as permanent secretary since Mr Talemaibua’s death on September 27 after a short illness.

Mr Talemaibua, who was 49, had led the ministry since 2023 and was remembered by Government for his dedication to enhancing service delivery to Fiji's rural and maritime communities.
