Public urged to avoid Walu Bay as authorities respond to fuel leak
Entry points from Suva and Lami closed; National Fire Authority working to contain the situation.

The Fiji Police Force is advising members of the public to avoid the Walu Bay area, as authorities work to contain a leak from an oil tank.

Police have advised members of the public to stay clear of the Walu Bay area after an fuel leak was detected at the Pacific Ocean terminal along Foster Road.
Syria Street and Argo Street have been closed until further notice as emergency teams work to contain the spill and ensure public safety.
The National Fire Authority (NFA) is on site managing containment operations, while authorities have cordoned off entry points to Walu Bay from Suva and Lami to restrict access to the affected area.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe has called on the public to cooperate with officials and avoid the restricted zone until further notice.
Police said updates would be provided once the area is declared safe and the roads are reopened to traffic.
Members of the public are urged to use alternative routes. In an emergency, they are advised to call 910.
