Prefects at Qawa Primary School are focused on getting better scores for the Northern Division in the Fiji Year Eight Examination.

Rosheel Dayal and Shivali Naicker said they would work with teachers and their respective parents so that they could also perform their role as leaders of the school.

Head girl, Shivali, 13, said the school recorded the second highest mark last year after one of the female students scored 486 marks out of 500.

“It has always been my aim to lift the name of the school and I thank the teachers for giving me this leadership role,” she said.

The younger of two siblings from Vunivau, Labasa said her brother, Vaiydesh Naicker, a Year 11 student of Labasa College was her role model.

“My brother helps in my studies and teaches me how to be good team leader in order to be able to work with the 360 students and 50 prefects from Years One to Eight,” the aspiring Neurosurgeon said.
