Assistant Foreign Affairs Minister, Lenora Qereqeretabua is sternly advising members of the Fijian diaspora residing in other countries to follow the law and stay away from trouble.

Ms Qeqeretabua’s advise follows the recent events in Australia where Fijian men have been arrested for serious crimes.

Last week, two Fijian men fronted the Bankstown Local court in New South Whales for allegedly attempting to access 128 kilograms of cocaine, estimated to be worth more than $94 million.

This week, a man went on a bloody rampage in Darlington, Sydney, stabbing two men and assaulting a woman after being allegedly booted from a Melbourne Cup night out. He has been charged.

A video has also emerged and is viral online of a Fijian man harassing members of the public inside a moving train.

Ms Qereqeretabua said it was disappointing to see a few Fijian people breaking the laws of the country.

“Disappointing that members of our diaspora have broken the laws of the country/countries that have given them respite,” Ms Qereqeretabua said.

“Follow the laws of the country in which you live.”
