Despite losing her grandmother early this year, Rowena Acraman found the strength to stay focused on her goals.

A former radio journalist with aspirations in human rights and climate change, Ms Acraman is one of the nine contestants competing in the Miss Hibiscus Festival 2024.

Sponsored by Miss APCO Coatings, Ms Acraman said her three years of study were challenging, but with the support of her friends, she overcame numerous obstacles.

“Pursuing both journalism and psychology was no easy feat for me personally,” Ms Acraman said

“Enduring the struggles at home was a testament to my resilience,” she said.

“Hard work and sleepless nights have truly paid off.”

This week has been an incredible experience for Ms Acraman as she participates in the festival and contends for the crown.

With mixed emotions, she describes without hesitation that the experience is magical.

In addition to her academic achievements, Ms Acraman is an avid artist, singer, and musician, skilled in playing both the guitar and ukulele.

She aspires to work for a non-governmental organisation dedicated to human rights and climate change.

She noted that balancing work and study was challenging, but she managed to maintain a stable income while pursuing her degree.
