Quick response from National Fire Authority(NFA) team was able to prevent a structural fire from spreading within a complex in Nadi Town on Sunday.
Tenants of two shops, Oriental Gift Shop and Ice Cream Corner which are located on the main street were allegedly affected by the blaze.
Nadi special administrator chair Lawrence Kumar thanked the NFA team for containing the fire otherwise it would have affected their office space on level one.

“Kudos to the NFA team otherwise the blaze would reached council properties,” said Mr Kumar.
Ice Cream Corner owner Shahir Mohammed said its lifeblood and source of income since 1993 was destroyed.
“Our favourite pastime, hobby, lifeblood, source of happiness, our bread and butter, our name and fame, the thing we loved to do, the place where we met so many beautiful people, were destroyed in a fire,” he said.
“We thank the NFA crew from Nadi Fire Station who worked tirelessly in putting out the blaze, unfortunately, our ‘heartbeat’ could not be saved.”
NFA chief executive officer Sowane Puamau said the Nadi Fire Station received a call at 5.30am from an employee of the Hot Bread Shop Nadi on her way to work.
