Mr Matawalu said the inaccessibility of an ambulance transport was a long-term problem.
Mr Rabuka said expenses related to purchasing a new vehicle for the health center could be funded through direct grant or donations.
This would be provided from their international development partners and the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) would be the lead facilitators.
“Previously acquisition of ambulances were given through aid by our development partners,” Mr Rabuka said.
Mr Matawalu said people in the district were long deprieved of an ambulance to transport patients to Nabouwalu and Labasa Hospital.
He said the Ministry of Health and Medical Services had an ambulance at Nabouwalu, but since there was no driver, this service never eventuated.
PM’s decision
Mr Matawalu said he fully supported Mr Rabuka’s assurance and appreciated his intervention.
Apart from just dialogue, he hopes the district’s previous experiences will not repeated.
He added the ambulance availability would address their health emergency needs on a daily basis.
The district is home to more than 2000 people.
