Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka revealed he had finished reading the Commission of Inquiry (COI) report into the appointment of Barbara Malimali as FICAC Commissioner but had not yet met with President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

"I have finished reading and I have made my own assessment," Mr Rabuka told this masthead yesterday.

The Prime Minister indicated he was waiting to meet with Attorney-General Graham Leung, which would likely happen on Thursday.

"When the Attorney General is free, that will probably be Thursday. I am looking forward to getting a call," he said.

Mr Rabuka clarified that the upcoming meeting with the President would be a discussion rather than a briefing.

"It's not a briefing. He will not be briefing me and I will not be briefing him.

"It's a discussion on our impression on the whole thing and what I would recommend to President Ratu Naiqama," he explained.

The Prime Minister did not confirm when the COI report would be released publicly, as this would depend on his meeting with President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

The COI report has been under intense public scrutiny, with opposition figures and independent MPs increasingly vocal about its delayed release since it was first handed to the Prime Minister and President Ratu Naiqama on May 1.
