The People’s Alliance Party has received expression of interests from 20 potential candidates as they prepare for the 2022 General Elections.

Party leader, Sitiveni Rabuka, did not reveal names, but told the press that none of the applicants were current Members of Parliament.

He said there was a perfect mix of racial backgrounds that have applied for candidacy with his party.

“We will be advertising for candidates soon, but in the meantime we are in the process of selecting our selection panel,” he said.

“We will ask for applications to come in and it will be handed over to the pre-interview selection panel and we will also have a selection panel on who will go through the applications and interview the applicants."

“We are looking at January, putting out everything; completing the selection of our side of it.”

He has also made an open call to the public and members of other political parties who wished to join his team in the next General Election.

“They must just follow the right procedure,” he said.

“I do not know how many members of SODELPA would join my party."

"They have had the time, they have seen their own internal bickering and they should be able to decide for themselves."

“They also have the time to assess the leadership within their party now that I have gone."

“I am here because I feel and believe the country needs the change and I am available to take them through the election process for that change.

“I am confident.”
