Sakiasi Radibi plans to build himself a house after working in Australia for the next four years under the Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme.

At 22 years old, Mr Radibi will leave his family behind as a sacrifice for his plan of a lifetime.

The Yavusania, Narewa native hopes to make his loved ones make them proud as he will be working in the meat industry for the next four years.

“I’m the only child in my family and I want to make them the proudest parents on earth,” he said.

“I applied for this programme back in 2020 and I waited all this time to get a spot.”

Mr Radibi worked for a sound system company in the Western division while he waited for the call from the National Employment Centre.

He also plans to buy a car upon his return.

In 2018, he was playing for Ratu Navula College when his cousins from the west had an accident at Nabou, Sigatoka on August 4. It killed eight people.

“They will forever be engraved in my mind and I would also do this for them,” he said.

He joins 286 other Fijians who will be leaving soon to work in various industries in Australia.
