Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima is urging parents to make the right decision whether to send their children to school following the flash flood in Labasa on Tuesday.

Mr Rainima was at Labasa yesterday morning inspecting areas prone to flooding.

“Parents please, make the right decision and do not allow your children to cross flooded roads or crossings,” Mr Rainima said.

“Always listen to the weather bulletin and read it online if you don’t havea radio at home.”

Mr Rainina was briefed by the Fiji Roads Authority on the number of road closures in the Northern Division.

He added that bad weather would continue in the coming days.

“Northerners, especially those living in low lying areas must make good decisions during the day on whether to move to higher ground or not.

“We also advise business operators to secure their property and farmers to take care of their livestock.

“We all have experienced and seen what flash flood could do, so please always be prepared.”
