Raj Credits Vanua of Ra for Success

Businessman and former politician George Shiu Raj praised the blessings of the vanua of Ra for all his business achievements.

In another milestone achievement, Mr Raj’s new $2 million supermarket, GSRAJ SHOPPLUS Supermarket in Rakiraki Town was officially opened by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka on Wednesday.

Mr Rabuka acknowledged the Raj family for their investment in Ra.

“I would like to thank Mr Shiu Raj, his group and his family that at this timely investment, a time when Rakiraki and the province of Ra needed a boost in economic activity to replace the closed down sugar mill that was laying off so many workers this has an impact on the economy of the town and the province,” Mr Rabuka said.

“We congratulate Mr Shiu Raj, a former minister, a well-known businessman, a true son of the vanua, who has been with you for many, many years who has contributed to the economy not only of the province but of the country for so many years.

“We congratulate him for bringing to fruition of his dream, setting up this supermarket which will bring together all sorts of services and sales for you, the people of Rakiraki,” Mr Rabuka added.

Mr Shiu Raj owns two supermarkets, a warehouse, a service station, the Russian nightclub. He confirms that he is planning to invest more in six other supermarkets to be located in every district of Ra.

“This was all through the blessings from the vanua and the support from the people of Ra and foremost the blessings from God,” he added.
