Ratu Osea Grateful To Be A Topper

While he was in high school, Ratu Osea Dukuno decided that he would not let his parents be burdened with fees and requirements when he entered a tertiary institute.
Today, the 18-years-old is a National Toppers Scholarship recipient.
The former Marist Brothers High School student scored 343 out of 500 during his Fiji Year 13 Certificate Examination last year.

He is now doing his bachelor’s in Marine Science at the University of the South Pacific.
“I am so happy that I am one of the Toppers recipients because I really worked hard to reach this far,” Ratu Osea said.
“I did not want my parents to worry about my fees and other related fees they have to pay when I get into tertiary.
“Last year we did not attend a lot of classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I made sure that when school started I was focussed on my studies.
“I had a goal and I made sure that I achieved that goal and here I am.
“Time management was what helped me achieve my marks.”
Ratu Osea believes he is the first in his family to study Marine Science.
“I have always wanted to do Marine Science because the ocean always interested me,” he said.
“I believe there is a lot to learn since Fiji is surrounded by the ocean.
“I would love to work for the United Nations, and I believe that Marine Science would enable me to achieve this.
“I want to thank my parents who have always motivated me to be the best version of myself,” he said.
“My uncle and dad are my role models and they always motivated me to never give up on my dreams.”
He believes that through determination, discipline, and perseverance anyone can reach their goals.
