Serua Island came to a standstill on Friday as the vanua o Korolevu celebrated the installation of Ratu Tevita Mara Latianara as the new Turaga na Vunivalu of the vanua o Korolevu (paramount chief).

The momentous occasion drew hundreds of people from the surrounding areas, all gathered to witness the historic event.

The atmosphere was charged with excitement and reverence as the island became the focal point of tradition and unity.

Among the distinguished guests present were the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Ifereimi Vasu, and Tui Namosi, Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, both of whom were present to honour the installation.

The ceremony began with a dedication service held at the village church on the island, setting the tone for the significance of the day.

Following the service, the traditional installation rites were carried out, marking a new chapter for the vanua o Korolevu under Ratu Tevita’s leadership.
