Rayana Kumar is a consistent performer as she did not drop her guard from years eight to 12.

Rayana was dux when she was in year eight at Shiri Guru Nanak Primary School, likewise last year for Labasa College.

She scored 376 out of 400 marks in the 2024 Fiji year 12 Certificate Examination (FY12CE).

She described her feeling after seeing her marks as ‘memorable’.

She lives at Naodamu, Labasa; her family was immensely proud of her achievements when the results came out on Thursday.

To top it up, Labasa College was one of the three schools that achieved the 100 per cent pass.

“It’s been a long road, but every step has been worth it,” she shared with a smile.

Her success didn’t happen overnight.

Rayana’s determination has been evident since enrolled at LC.

“I always push myself to do better, no matter how tough the challenge,” she said.

“This result is the reward for staying focused and committed.”

Both her parents are teachers and have been her pillars of strength throughout her journey.

“I am so proud of Rayana,” mother, Subhashni Kumar said.

The 44-year-old was full of emotion when this masthead approached her yesterday.

“She’s always been determined and worked hard to achieve her goals, this result reflects her dedication, and it fills my heart with pride.”

Father, Rajesh Kumar, 46, shared similar sentiments.

“From the beginning, we have always encouraged her to give her best, watching her achieve this success is beyond words, Mr Kumar reiterated.

I always push myself to do better, no matter how tough the challenge. This result is the reward for staying focused and committed

‘Rayana is my role model’

Elder brother, Rayash Kumar, 21, says her younger sister continues to be a role model for him.

“Her work ethic and determination inspires me to push myself in everything I do,” Mr Kumar said.

Time management and discipline have been key to balancing Rayana’s studies with personal life.

“It’s not easy, but with the right planning, you can achieve anything,” she said.

“I’ve learned that staying organized is winning half the battle.”
