Raymond Mohammed Passes Away

 A young and industrious leader in the mineral resources sector has died. 

Raymond Mohammed was instrumental in raising awareness about the economic significance of mineral resources and worked closely with the media to bridge the level of understanding. 

A mining engineer whose early career began in Vatukoula Gold Mines he went on for further studies in Australia. 

He was acting director of mineral resources for three years, an experience he enjoyed. 

This year, he returned to his substantive post as manager mines, where he planned to accelerate a review of the outdated Mining Act. 

His line minister Filimoni Vosarogo said “Ray epitomized hard work.” 

“An extremely intelligent man, regrettably Fiji will never know of his full potential because of his untimely demise,” Mr Vosarogo said. 

“He was full of industry and full of promise. 

“A man with such a gentle soul and a heart full of compassion, I am sure many outside the civil service will also sorely miss him and his great personality.
