Recurring Bus Fire Incidents Raises Alarm, Community Concerned

Arvind Mestry, the advisory councillor of Olosara, has called on Public Service Vehicles (PSV) operators to improve their services.
This is to prevent any future incidents like the recent bus fire.
Yesterday morning, a Sunbeam Transport bus caught fire near Olosara, Sigatoka, while en route from Suva to Lautoka.

Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the bus was carrying six passengers at the time of the incident.
“There were nil injuries as all passengers evacuated the bus after the driver saw smoke coming from the engine compartment,” Ms Naisoro said.
Mr Mestry said it was not the first time such incident has happened and the community was worried.
“We were fortunate that no one was hurt or injured, and we strongly urge PSV operators to enhance their services to avoid any future occurrences,” he added.
Attempts to get comments from Sunbeam Transport were unsuccessful.
