Miss Hibiscus, Melania Tora was accorded a traditional ceremony of welcome and honour at her village at Sabeto, Nadi, on Saturday.

The people of Sabeto, known as the Vanua o Betoraurau, celebrated her win in style because she had promoted her village, Nadi, and Fiji around the world, said clan head, Kiniviliame Mokotanavanua.

The celebration was attended by the Tui Sabeto, Ratu Viliame Mataitoga.

Ratu Viliame said, “The vanua is proud of you. Your success shines as a beacon of hope and inspiration to so many.

“Congratulation to our amazing vulau (daughter)!”

Ms Tora, sponsored by Tents and Awnings, was crownedCa fortnight ago.

“Your name is not mentioned, but the name of your vanua, your chiefly house, Na Momo na Tui Sabeto has been made known throughout Fiji and the world. Thank you for letting the people know here you come from.”

Ms Tora acknowledged her chief and the support of her vanua during the festival.

“It was through your support, your guidance and your prayers that I was able to achieve the Miss Hibiscus crown. Thank you,” she added.
