Reddy Is Acting Prime Minister

Mahendra Reddy is now the Acting Prime Minister.

It’s the first time that he has been appointed to the position.

He is the Minister for Agriculture, Waterways, and Environment. He is also Acting Minister for Defence, National Security and Foreign Affairs.

Minister Inia Seruiratu is with Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama in Madrid, Spain, for the COP25 meeting.

Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum flew out from Nadi yesterday to join them. He is also Minister responsible for Climate Change.

Mr Reddy, like Fisheries Minister Semi Koroilavesau before him, is part of Mr Bainimarama’s rotation policy, giving his Cabinet ministers, the opportunity to grow in leadership roles.

Mr Reddy is one of the hardest working ministers and his appointment shows Mr Bainimarama’s faith in him.
