Every day, Eliki Toto, 49, of Waigasa, Lami, pushes a wheelbarrow to help cart goods for people.

It is simple but, it is an honest employment that supports this Wheelbarrow Boy’s family. But with the rising cost of living, even his hard-earned $100 per week wages do not go far because of the cost of foods and groceries.

“The prices of goods in supermarkets are very expensive,” he said.

“Earning $100 per week is not enough when we take it to the supermarket.”

He said most of his income would be spent on basic groceries. Little is left for other family needs.

As Government prepares the 2025-2026 National Budget, Mr Toto prays more support will be given to low-income families whose members work hard, but still struggle to get by.

For him and many others, life is about survival, and every dollar counts.
