Renovation Works on Old PM's Residence on Hold
Prime Minister Rabuka had announced in February last year that he would move into the old PM residence once renovation works were completed.

The renovation works on the old Prime Minister’s residence in Suva is on hold.
This was after Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka rejected a quotation with an exorbitant charge.
“I have asked the Public Service Commission not to pursue the old Prime Minister’s residence as they have sent a quotation which was too high, I turned it down.” Mr Rabuka said.

The old Prime Minister’s residence on Ratu Sukuna Road has been vacant after former Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama vacated it in 2019 to move next door.
Prime Minister Rabuka had announced in February last year that he would move into the old PM residence once renovation works were completed.
The Prime Minister is currently housed at the official residence of the Chief Justice in Muanikau.
Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad earlier highlighted that renovations made to Prime Minister’s residence in Muanikau in 2017 and 2018 had cost Government $3.5 million.
Another renovation costing $162,000 was made to the building after former Prime Minister Bainimarama vacated the residence last year.
Both residences are adjacent to each other.
