Return Home: Street Dwellers Urged

A notable increase in the number of street dwellers or homeless people in the capital city has been noted by the Suva Retailers Association.
Association president Jitesh Patel said some of these people had been on the streets for more than 20 years but they are concerned that in the last couple of years, the number had increased.
“This is a sad reflection on our society and family values. We hope families can come and take their family members back home,” he said.

Mr Patel also commended the Fiji Police Force and other government agencies including the Suva City Council that have been part of Operation Lesu-I-Vale.
Social Welfare Department director Rupeni Fatiaki said most of them were there by choicestreets.
