Retired school principal and Tamavua resident, Vincent McKenzie, has requested the Ministry of Local Government to review the eligibility criteria of those running for the proposed Municipal Council Elections.
While making a submission to the ministry during the Municipal Election Public Consultations in Suva yesterday he said from previous years, only a ratepayer was allowed to stand for municipal council elections.
“I am not a rate payer, but I do a lot of community work in the Tamavua area. I lead the Tamavua Working Group and I see myself being a blessing to others especially at a time where there was no elected council,” he said.
