RFMF Engineers Complete Road Works On Koro Island
Although the engineers did not meet the time frame to complete the work, meeting government standard of the infrastructure and road works was vital.

Two farm roads on Koro Island were completed by the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Engineers last month.
The 2-kilometers road to Bucabuca and the 1.6-kilometer road to Sosobalavu hill were methodically completed on 25th July by the work of eleven sappers led by Sergeant Rajeshwar Prasad.
Sergeant Rajeshwar, also known to the engineers’ regiment by the name ‘Vueta’ said his team have done an excellent work despite the number of drawbacks.

"Unfortunately we did not meet the time frame to complete the work but we managed to do the task properly and accurately in order to meet the government standard of the infrastructure and road works at the farming site," he said.
He said the delay in the road works was due to the rainy weather; the inconsistency of the boat schedule for transportation of fuel and breakdown of machines.
"However that did not lower the morale of my team but we just switch our work plan to demolish 48 houses that were damaged by cyclone Winston in 2016."
Sergeant Prasad also expressed his appreciation on the invaluable contribution from Nasau village.
“I would like to thank the people of Nasau for the support made in terms of accommodation, the food they offered and the heart of being helpful they offered in order for us to achieve our mission."
The Ministry of Agriculture representative, Pita Tikoibua said his work is to do survey to the farm land in Koro and its progress. He normally walks up the hill and down the slope just to gather information in regards to the development of farmers in terms of revenues and growth.
"What the engineers has done to their land has changed the mindset of the villagers," he said.
Farmers normally carry food crops down the hills to be sold.
"But today, buyers travel up the hill to buy their products."
Village headman, Kilioni Uluiviti said that the RFMF engineers has done a big job in the construction of village foot bridge, the demolishing of houses damaged by Tropical Cyclone Winston and the upgrade of the two-farm roads which will assist them in their future daily lives.
The village headman was grateful to the RFMF Engineers’ for the job well done.
Villager, Mosese Qionibaravi said they often found difficulty trekking up the hill on rainy weather but now they could travel by vehicle in the morning as well in the afternoon.
