The phone has been confiscated, and the individual concerned has been stood down pending an independent probe.
Issuing a stern warning to his officers, Major-General Kalouniwai said: “Let me warn you today: we cannot take matters into our own hands, and involvement in such illegal activities will not be condoned within the RFMF.”
The Commander also reflected on growing public impatience over crime and governance, reaffirming the RFMF’s commitment to democracy and the rule of law since the 2022 elections.
He urged patience and principled leadership, warning that past coups were born out of frustration.
